About Us

Maurice Kanbar, an inventor and philanthropist, is a graduate of Philadelphia University and received an Honorary Doctorate of Science in 2003.  Kanbar reached success during the early years of his career through numerous brands of inventions.  He currently owns over 35 patents on various products including the D-Fuzz-It comb for sweaters and the Safety Glide hypodermic needle protector.  Kanbar also created New York’s first multiplex theatre.  In 1992 Kanbar founded SKYY Spirits, LLC, with the launch of the companies first product, SKYY Vodka which quickly became the second largest premium vodka brand in the United States.  In Kanbar’s most recent project he served as producer for the full length animated feature “Hoodwinked.”  He and his inventions have been featured in articles in prominent publications including The Wall Street Journal, Forbes Magazine, Business Week, Newsweek, and USA Today

In 2005, following the sale of the tremendously successful SKYY Vodka, Kanbar acquired more than 2.3 million square feet of commercial office space in Tulsa’s central business district.  In January 2007, we formed Kanbar Properties in order to consolidate the management of the 16 buildings.  While our plan was to initially provide services just to the buildings within our portfolio, it was also our goal to expand to non-Kanbar buildings once we established ourselves and our capabilities.  Indeed, with 2.3 million square feet under management and over 40 employees in the CBD, we knew that we could offer expertise, experience and economies of scale that no other company could provide.

In our first year of operation Kanbar Properties dramatically increased the efficiencies of each of our buildings; significantly decreased operating expenses; and improved the amenities and services available to all of our tenants.

Our support of Tulsa’s revitalization is not limited to the economic investment in our buildings.  We also strive to be a model corporate citizen and good neighbor.  In addition to Maurice Kanbar’s philanthropic giving to various Tulsa based charitable organizations, we made a significant donation to Downtown Tulsa Unlimited to finance the Police Department’s community service office in the Oil Capital building.  In addition, we made the Arco Building available to the Tulsa Fire Department in order to conduct testing and training maneuvers; during Mayfest, we offered parking access for handicapped and special access drivers; for the Centennial we made our buildings available for the incredible laser light show; and we have made the retail windows of our buildings available to various non-profits to showcase their activities.  It is our continuing desire to improve the quality of our community.

David Atkinson, who heads up our operations, has more than 15 years of experience in property management.  He is joined by the strongest property and facilities management professionals in Tulsa and an engineering staff whose resourcefulness and talents are unrivaled.  More important, however, is David’s and his team’s passion for downtown and the enormous pride in which they take in being a part of its growth and success.   Kanbar Properties invites you to take a tour of our buildings and, more important, to speak with our tenants.
